Ed and Elaine Brown Reported Arrested

The Guardian reports:

Convicted tax evaders Ed and Elaine Brown have been arrested at their Plainfield home without incident, the U.S. Marshal’s office in New Hampshire said Thursday.

The couple had been convicted on federal tax charges in January. They refused to turn themselves in to authorities when they were sentenced in April and had been holed up in their rural, fortress-like home since. It was not immediately clear how they were taken into custody.

“The Browns may now begin serving their 63-month federal prison terms,” U.S. Marshal Stephen Monier said. “High profile situations like this are always difficult, but they don’t have to be tragic. I’m glad no one was injured, and that the community remained safe throughout the operation.”

The Browns have claimed the federal income tax is not legitimate.

Earlier this year, officials cut power and telephone service in an effort to ratchet up pressure on the couple convicted of scheming to avoid federal income taxes by hiding $1.9 million of income between 1996 and 2003.

After abandoning his federal trial and retreating to his home, Ed Brown repeatedly said that any attempts to arrest him would result in a violent confrontation.

It was not clear how the couple were arrested. A team of deputy marshals took them into custody at about 7:45 p.m.

“We had no indication that the Browns intended to voluntarily surrender, so we had to move forward with an operation that promised the safest possible outcome. That day was today, U.S. Marshal Stephen Monier said in a written statement.

The Browns were taken into custody by a team of deputy marshals, Monier said.

He said marshals moved “forward with an operation that promised the safest possible outcome” but did not provide details. The two did not surrender, he said.

A news briefing is scheduled for 10 a.m. today at the U.S. District Courthouse in Concord.

    Our thoughts and prayers should be with Ed and Elaine right now. Pray that they stay safe in prison for a crime they didn’t commit. Someone had to have turned on them and was already in the home. Who ever that was is complete scum. All these people will have their day. Its gonna come they should be ready

    Our country is upside down. As millions of illegals are freely roaming the countryside getting free medical care, free education, free food-stamps etc. these educated and productive legal united States citizens are being locked up. And for what— they dared to question the legality of a tax law.

    If the law is legal then all the government has to do is to show it to the press. Wouldn’t that be simple? The government action just proves to me that they are a bunch of lying and cheating thieves.

    This is the only way I see of correction our national problems:

    Seems the federal marshalls impersonated supporters and walked right up to them. No details after that. According to the fed’s rules of engagement, isn’t it ILLEGAL NOT to immediately identify themselves as federal agents?
    Since all Ed & Elaine asked was that the SAME be done to those responsible as they have done to Ed & Elaine, isn’t it time to ARREST some judges, police, marshalls, and don’t forget the media owners, who are now CENSORING out virtually every comment posted on their site which doesn’t shout “hooray–now they’ll pay their debt to society.” A debt which was never even owed.

    As I read I see all the comments of how the media censors all but what they want you to hear, and how the government is corrupt, and how taxes “INCOME” taxes on your labor is illegal, and whatever other basic against anything you can be. But, the truth is: and George Carlin said it best: ” This country was bought and paid for years ago”. Now tell me, WHAT DON’T YOU GET ABOUT THAT STATEMENT?? This is it folks! It doesn’t get any better. The Crew (and I need not mention their names) own it all….what can you change? You can’t elect anyone, Diebold and the Adiministration fixed that in 2001. Are you ready for Hillary?, you should be because she WILL be in the White House in 2008. The only thing that will stop her will be the catastrophic event that will enable the calling of martial law and the beginning of our internment camp venture for death or torture (depending on what you know).
    The 16th Amendment, like it or not, ratified or not, says that the Congress has the POWER to collect taxes on ALL incomes derived from any source (paraphrasing). ANY SOURCE period. if you want to change anything, you have to repeal the 16th Amendment, barring that, this is it! Oh, and I truly doubt that the Rockefellers and Rothchilds would even allow you to get the papers filed for such an adventure. JFK wanted to change very similar things, remember what happened to him?
