Cocaine “Vaccine” May Be Pushed As Inoculation

The needle may be one of addiction’s enduring symbols, but two researchers hope that injections of modified cocaine provide the first-ever medication for people hooked on the drug.

The two Baylor College of Medicine scientists have developed a cocaine vaccine, currently in clinical trials, that stimulates the immune system to attack the real thing.

As a result, cocaine no longer provides a kick.

“For people who have a desire to stop using, the vaccine should be very useful,” said Tom Kosten, a psychiatry professor who was assisted in the research by his wife, Therese Kosten, a psychologist and neuroscientist.

“At some point, most users will give in to temptation and relapse, but those for whom the vaccine is effective won’t get high and will lose interest,” he said.

Tom Kosten, who joined Baylor 18 months ago, asked the Food and Drug Administration in December to green-light a multi-institutional trial to begin in the spring. It presumably would be the final clinical hurdle before the vaccine might be approved for treatment.

Approval would mark a breakthrough in the treatment of cocaine addiction, which now mostly involves psychiatric counseling and 12-step programs. Over the years, Kosten noted, more than 50 pharmaceutical options have been investigated and found wanting.

The vaccine could raise interesting ethical questions about who should get inoculated and what happens if confidential information about those receiving it becomes known. Although developed for therapeutic purposes the vaccine eventually is expected to be used for prevention as well.

The questions include whether parents would be allowed to have their children inoculated; whether it would amount to coercion to make it a condition for lighter criminal sentences; whether employers might happen upon such information and use it discriminatorily; and whether to use it on pregnant addicts to protect the fetuses.

The questions don’t just reverberate about this vaccine: Tom Kosten also is at work on vaccines for methamphetamine, heroin and nicotine. Two other nicotine vaccines are being investigated by other scientists.

The Kostens’ cocaine vaccine has been more than a decade in the making.

    This does absolutely NOTHING to address the root causes of addiction, dependency, & the mental state & circumstances that lead a person down these paths. What it DOES do is give scientists an excuse to develop ways to reprogram the human mind, which, as many readers already know, has been a dream of global elites for many years. These are truly frightening “cures” because of their appearance of benevolence–but that’s the modus operandi of the NWO.

    This is designed for the weak minded. I stopped all my bad habits before my son was born at the age of 26 and if I can do it so can anyone else if they just apply themselves. You don’t need a chemical labotomy to stop. Will power fights chemical addiction not more chemicals that will only have side effects worse than the drug your doing. Oh I’m sure they have only goooood intentions for you though, LOL…………..

    People do drugs because this world is so corrupt and it’s made more corrupt by people who create vaccines like this. Why don’t these doctors try setting up jobs in their communities instead of sucking all the money out of a community to fill their big heads with their pseudo science…I just hope they have tested their own drugs on themselves before they test it on another human or animal…It took awhile but I can now see a clear picture of where the evil in this world is coming from thanks to the internet and sites like this…

    Isn’t this just another example of how the gov’t enslaves the public? Bring the drugs in, than “provide” the salvation of dependancy? This is reminiscent of how they inoculate our children with immunizations, than provide drugs to help with the ADD, ADHD, and autism that is the end result. Or the cancer “immunization” that GIVES you cancer. Just another lie.

    I could see how helpful that new coke vaccine would be if we were living back in the seventies, but nowedayz? C’mon man. We all know Coke is the drug of choice amongst crooked politicians.So why create a damn vaccine that would deter the effects of the drug? Just something for the boys in DC to think about ;P

    Those buttholes need to wake up and realize that we need to spend the research money on more important things like the homeless and other things to put the US back into shape. Bottom line is: Take care of the machine (the US) and it will take care of us. No greed just peace. -noeltheshemale

    I disagree with the other folks here: a vaccine against cocaine would actually be a good thing if it worked. Every coke-head I’ve ever known was an obnoxious, worthless scumbag. Another thing: wouldn’t cocaine have to be legalized first? What person is going to admit they are a drug-using criminal just to get the vaccine?

    Maybe if the gov’t just stop bombarding us with drugs in the first place, then most of us wouldn’t get high. Come on, do you really thin the government is going to stop their number one money making plant. I mean the CIA practically protects the Columbian drug cartel.

    Drugs keeps the public sedated. Why do you think the number of people hooked grew exponentially during the 60’s and 70’s. It is not because people are depressed and inherently want to try cool things. It is because social and economic conditions have been manipulated that way, so that people won’t know who is really controlling their democracy.

    All I can see that this vaccine would be doing is being forcibly used on People of color, the youth and the poor, with alternative “side-effects”.
